The Bonnaroo Music Festival is a spectacular music and arts event like no other. First held back in 2002, this 4 to 5 day music festival includes a diverse variety of music and entertainment anyone can appreciate. It was created by Superfly Productions and AC Entertainment and is held every June in Manchester, Tennessee.
The festival offers ticketholders grand entertainment including multiple stages of live music from indie rock to hip hop. Originally, the festival focused on jam bands, but recently has diversified greatly. World music, country, jazz and gospel can all be found. Creative and unique arts and crafts are also on display for sale. Cuisine and drinks are readily available and sponsors provide free activities.
Many people attend Bonnaroo for the full event so it's important to ensure you are properly prepared. They recommend attending with raingear, tents, sleeping bags, mud boots, blankets, extra toilet paper, and biodegradable trash bags. There is a general store in the gathering area to obtain forgotten items. Things that are not allowed on the grounds include weapons, fireworks, pets, illegal drugs, bikes, scooters, Styrofoam coolers, and plastic grocery bags. It's important to note that no glass containers of any kind will be allowed on the premises. They will provide drinking water, medical assistance, wash stations, showers, portable toilets, pay telephones as well as ATM machines.
The Bonnaroo concert is a true taste of music and creativity. Some of the guests that attended the 2009 event included Bruce Springsteen, Phish, Snoop Dogg, Ben Harper, Wilco, Beastie Boys, Nine Inch Nails, Public Enemy, Andrew Bird, and many more. There are comedy shows as well and 2009 featured Jimmy Fallon with Wayne Federman, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Todd Barry, Amy Schumer, and others. The stages are set up on the beautiful 700 acre grounds of Manchester, Tennessee . Entertainment is around the clock and some other attractions include a classic arcade, on-site cinema, silent disco, theater performers, a music technology center and a beer festival.
The Bonnaroo Festival has been recognized by Rolling Stone Magazine as being one of the top 50 moments that changed the history of rock n roll. They view the event as peaceful with excellent logistics, and outstanding entertainment options which makes it a revolutionary entertainment event. Recently, they announced the establishment of the Bonnaroo Works Fund to reinvest into the community. The Fund will be administered by the East Tennessee Foundation which manages many charities throughout Tennessee.
